Taste of Madison

It’s that time of year again, the annual Taste of Madison 2008!

This wonderful benefit is brought to you by United Cerebal Palsy of Greater Dane County. Dane County’s UCP is serving up another action packed Labor Day weekend filled with loads of live entertainment and food from more than 60 area restaurants and caterers. UCP volunteers will be busy serving beer, wine, and soda from 20 beverage stands. Come out and support this great Wisconsin based charity that provides services to individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. All tips go directly to help fund UCP’s programs, so don’t forget to tip your bartenders (and tip them Good!!)!

The official Taste of Madison program will be distributed in the August 28 edition of Wisconsin State Journal. Thousands of additional programs will be available at the event at the Wisconsin State Journal’s booths and various beverage stands. Don’t miss out on this free admission event. Hope to see you there.

The grass is always greener!

Isn’t it funny how as homeowners and local residents living in a community for years upon years, we often never realize all that our community has to offer. We look at other areas, like coastal resorts, historic settings, or even other state parks, and think we would love to explore them. Yet we often forget that when living in Madison we have some of the most interesting activities and areas to explore right in our backyard. I am always searching on-line and in our local Madison publications so that I can stay on top of all the local events and activities in our community. I think it is important as a realtor to be a community expert especially when working with prospective Madison buyers. This week, while doing my research, I came across a really neat activity that combines two of my favorite things. Films and music!
Yesterday began the start of the 10th annual Wisconsin Film Festival. It will run through this Sunday, April 6th. There will be many local Madison establishments involved in the film festival for movie showings, release parties, and receptions. The movies are shown at 10 different Madison theaters all within walking distance to one another downtown. Entering and exiting the movies you will find areas to sit and enjoy the music of some of the movies. You can also go to one of the many parties to see live music including some great local Madison talent. So if you are looking for some fun this weekend or interested in seeing a great side of Madison, check out the Wisconsin Film Festival this weekend.

Freakfest 2007

I am a realtor that not only loves selling homes in the Madison area, but also loves living here.  I therefore am always looking for great events that showcase some of the fun in our community.  One that is coming up this weekend is especially fitting in light of the nearby Halloween holiday.  Freakfest 2007 is sure to be a great time. It is being held on State St. and will feature 3 stages of live music.  The party will go on from 7:30 PM to 1:30 AM with very reasonable ticket pricing.  I’ve attached the link with all the event details.  So grab your costume and head on down to State St. for the annual Freakfest.  Be Safe and Happy Halloween!!!!

Bowl-A-Thon

As Chair of the KW Cares Committee (www.kwcares.org), I am heading up the Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser.

When: October 6 from 12-5pm

Where: Ten Pin Alley

Fundraising Why?: IHN or www.IHNMadison.org.

About IHN: This is a restart program for homeless families with children. Many of us can turn a blind eye to an adult that is living on the street, but I never knew how many of our own LOCAL homeless are children.

IHN helps people start over; from the hand-made blanket and pillow that people get on the first night in their care to resume and rent-record assistance. This program is so successful at helping people become contributing members, that several have joined IHN as treasured employees. Their stories put my own life into a different perspective.

I have been very blessed. I have never been faced with living on the street. By supporting a program that is determined to assist only those that are ready to help themselves, I feel that it is the best combination of a win-win possible.

Feel free to join in or you can donate to sponsor a bowler.
