Focus on What Counts…

At Keller Williams, we call it the “Big Why.” In our fast food world , it’s easy to forget what really counts. Oprah eloquently points to the heart the matter in an article that was posted on the Young Entrepreneur Blog.

All the responsibilities of being a parent, pet owner, business owner make it easy to forget to “Be quiet. Part of your responsibility is to honor the quiet inside yourself so you can hear the call. Take five minutes to center yourself in the morning…set your intention every day…if you don’t have five minutes, you don’t deserve to have the life of your dreams.”

I know that I am blessed because I am doing what I love. Watching as a new home owner finds their own signs about a house; a cardinal feather in the snow to a bird watcher, the colors of their home country in the cabinetry, the perfect climbing tree, these things make my long days worth while.

Going with the stream is much easier than against it. Life finds ways of showing us where our happiness lies. “…if you do work that you love, and work that fulfills you, the rest will come.”

I hope that this article inspires you as it did me.

Returning to the Blitz: Suitcases for Kids

Keller Williams Realty West will be taking part in a service project which collects and distributes suitcases, duffel bags, and backpacks for foster children in the Madison area. Last year we had the most suitcases gathered from any single real estate office and we plan to do it again. All donations will be accepted from now until March 13th. Full information for the drive is included below. For more information on how to get involved in this Madison area charity, please give me a call. 608-444-6831. Thank You!!

Returning to the Blitz: Suitcases for Kids
“In 2006, RASCW joined the national service project designed to collect and distribute new and gently used suitcases, duffel bags and backpacks for foster children who are frequently forced to move from home to home. Since that time, we have donated more that 700 suitcases and just under $1,000 to foster care programs throughout Dane, Sauk and Columbia counties. We will once again be collecting donations at Blitz 2008 and distributing them throughout the three counties. Please remember to bring a suitcase to the Blitz on March 13, 2008.” (http://www.rascw.org/)

Any contributions will be greatly appreciated and will be stored at the Keller William West real estate office until March 13th.

Thanks so much in advance on behalf of those without.

And the snow came down…

Well the snow storm came into Madison this weekend, just as expected. Even
though I know the storms sometimes cause a bit of havoc for some, I always
love being in Madison right after a snow storm. The city always looks so
beautiful, especially with all the holiday décor. I always look forward to
the outdoor activities that are possible once the snow finally hits the
ground. There are so many activities and parks in and around Madison to
choose from, but my favorite is snow shoeing at Yellowstone Lake State Park.
I love the quietness, serenity, and beauty that this portion of Madison has
to offer. It is just one of the many local tips that I get to share with
Madison home buyers moving into the area. The Madison area truly feels like
home to me, and I enjoy so much of what is offered, both man-made and
natural. I therefore love being a realtor in the Madison area. Having the
opportunity to share the best of Wisconsin while I help people buy and sell
Madison area real estate is great!

Thanksgiving Tradition

As we all look forward to seeing our friends and families on Thanksgiving, many things often cross our minds.  It might be the wonderful turkey, the apple pie, the pumpkin pie, the cranberry stuffing, or the amazing left-overs on Friday!!  Almost all of what comes to mind is wrapped around food and the inevitable feeling of “stuffed” that will come along with it.  So I think it is a great idea to start the day off in the annual Berbee Derby in Madison.  It is a road race that you can either run or walk.  A lot of people take part in the event on behalf of a charity and I am sure their waistlines before the feast of Thanksgiving.  A quick run or walk in the Berbee Derby may help you better enjoy the holiday so you feel less guilty if you decide to indulge in that 2nd piece of pie.

Another fun part of the holiday is all the hustle and bustle of activity that occurs with travelers that have come to Madison to visit their friends and family.  There are always great things going on in the city and plenty of prospective home buyers that may want to take a look at your Madison area home for sale. So, all of you home sellers out there, make sure you concentrate on the curb appeal of your home this upcoming holiday weekend.  There will likely be many prospective buyers very interested in the Madison area driving around to scan houses.  They may find interest in yours.  Please call me if you need any help preparing for the holiday “rush.”
